Graduate Programme & Inclusive Assessment
In 2023, The Early Careers Company designed and launched a pioneering graduate programme for Everflow, a business utilities company based in North-East England. This initiative aimed to support Everflow’s rapid growth with a structured programme aimed at top emerging talent.
The Early Careers Company implemented a three-stream graduate programme covering Engineering, Sales, and Analytics. This included the creation of tailored training materials and an inclusive assessment framework. Key steps included conducting an inclusion review of existing hiring practices, launching a hiring campaign that attracted over 3,000 applicants, running three assessment centres leading to 14 successful hires, and training Everflow’s internal TA team to manage the programme effectively.
"The quality of candidates was exceptional, because ECC got to know our business, people, values and vision." – Sarah Yorston, Head of People
A nuanced understanding of Everflow’s brand and recruitment model was crucial. The Early Careers Company used behavioural event interviews and psychometric profiling, in partnership with the Chemistry Group, to gain deep insights into Everflow's values and workplace behaviours. Additionally, candidate mapping exercises and qualitative insights from Everflow’s talent team ensured alignment with local context and candidate needs.
14 graduates were hired onto the newly launched programme, which achieved a 100% retention rate after 12 months. The programme significantly bolstered Everflow’s ability to scale with quality hires and enhanced the company's local reputation as an attractive employer for young talent.
