In 2020, our founder, Dan, saw a critical issue in early careers recruitment: organisations were seeking skills but hiring based on backgrounds. In 2021, he founded The Early Careers Company to help organisations build the diverse teams they need to thrive.
That same year, The Early Careers Foundation was launched to break down barriers for young people from low-income backgrounds. In 2023, Ladder Consulting, was founded to support businesses to develop workplace equity and community initiatives.
Our story is about more than recruitment – what started as a mission to fix early careers hiring has grown into The Ladder Group, three organisations working together to drive social mobility, build diverse teams, and create meaningful career pathways for all.
At the heart of our process are equitable recruitment practices designed to deliver real results. Each role is filled through active headhunting, ensuring diverse, representative talent pools that align with your organisation’s values.
Unlike traditional agencies, there’s no reliance on databases or commission-driven models; instead, we focus on building genuine relationships with both clients and candidates, leading to a retention rate of over 95%.
We donate 15% of our revenue to the The Early Careers Foundation, to fund career mentoring and financial support for young people from low-income backgrounds, empowering them to access the opportunities they deserve.
This close collaboration ensures that everything we do – whether working with clients or supporting candidates – is aligned with our mission to drive social mobility and create a more inclusive workforce.
